Participate in Austin’s Land Development Code Changes: CodeNEXT
What is CodeNEXT?
It’s the City of Austin’s initiative to revise the Land Development Code (LDC). The LDC determines how land can be used—what can be built, where it can be built, and how much can be built. As the LDC is revised, planners want the new code to reflect the unique character of Austin neighborhoods.
The LDC revision process will take at least three years and involves changes to the description of what our current zoning is. It may likely add duplexes and fourplexes, new zoning areas, new minimum lot sizes, dimensions, and area.
How Will Allandale Participate?
The first step is for Allandale residents to participate in a “Community Character in a Box” exercise to identify Allandale’s values & unique aspects—qualities, experiences, places we love—and areas that need improvement. We’ll document our ideas on a large map that we’ll return to the CodeNEXT team. Then we’ll document our likes and dislikes with photos that we’ll upload to the CodeNEXT website.
